I am currently available to take commissions for pet portraits. If you would like to commission a portrait then please feel free to contact me so we can discuss further. I have created a quick guide that shows my prices and a few questions that I usually get asked.

How much does it cost to commission a pet portrait?

Commission pricing is calculated on the picture size and how many pets are in the picture. I have created a small chart that demonstrates the basic pricing structure for commissions. This guide is for you to get a general idea of my prices, If you would like a more accurate quote then please contact me for further information.

Do I need to send you my own pet photo reference?

Ideally I require photos of your pet so I can capture their character and personality in the portrait. I can work from several photographs if you have a lot available. I prefer to work from good quality photos that are nice and clear, I have created a guide that shows what makes a good photo and what makes a bad one. If you are struggling to find a good photo and would still like to commission a portrait, please contact me so we can discuss the options.

Good Photo Example

1. A high resolution photo with lots of details. If you can see the individual hairs on the pets coat this will be a great photo.

2. A photo that is taken outside in natural light will capture all of those lovely colours in the fur.

3. A photo that is taken at the same level as the pet usually works well.

4. The more detail that is in the photo the better, I like to capture all of these details in the final artwork.

Bad Photo Examples

1. The pet is too small in the photo so there is not enough detail in the face.

2. The photo is blurry so there is generally not enough detail.

3. The lighting is poor quality so there is a loss of detail and colour.

How does it work?

Once I have received your photographs we can then discuss your portrait further, when you are happy to proceed you can place your order. To secure a position in my order book I would require a £50 deposit. One week before I start your portrait I would then require 50% of the remaining balance. On completion and full approval of your portrait the remaining balance would then be due. Payments can be made securely online via Paypal or by bank transfer.

How long does it take you to create a pet portrait?

Many hours go into each and every one of my portraits, for example a 10 x 12" portrait with one pet can take 5 days to complete. Larger pictures with more subjects will take longer.

What materials do you use to create your artwork?

I only use the finest quality art materials that are available on the market today. I generally use either coloured pencils or pastel pencils to create my artwork. The pencils that I use are guaranteed to be light fast for 100 years so your finished masterpiece will not fade over time. The papers are also of the highest quality and will not discolour or deteriorate over time.

If you would like me to create a drawing of your beloved pet or if you would like more information on the commission process then please feel free to contact me, I will be happy to help in anyway I can.
